Soros Hijacks The ACLU
With the American Civil Liberties Union, the ACLU, shifting their scope with a radical reversal…we must ask ourselves, “Has this legal advocacy group come under the control of influential money?”
You might think so now that the ACLU begins to tip its hand.
[Clip: “Well, the ACLU became famous over almost a hundred years by defending due process and free speech especially for deeply unpopular people. That long and noble tradition is over now in the name of left wing solidarity.”]
Growing up in the synagogue in the 50s, we knew that the ACLU had leftist ties, yet still defended civil liberties.
“An elite group in New York,” as Wikipedia puts it, gained control of the ACLU in the 50’s.
And, as Ted Cruz coins the phrase—with ‘New York Values’ shaping its policies.
Is there a common thread here?

Yet Kavanaugh—with a pristine professional record—is correlated with proven sexual predators.
How low can the ACLU go?

Because a policy shift with a partisan swing arose in 2017 due to a suspected outside influence, that’s why.

What happened to due process that the ACLU once fought for?
It all started with the ACLU’s roll out of “People Power.”

Construing it as a campaign to ‘take the fight against Trump to the streets’—complete with ‘Resistance Training’—the ACLU donned the persona of the mob.
Faiz Shakir, former editor of “ThinkProgess,” a left-wing agitprop funded by George Soros though its parent, “Center For American Progress,” directs the ACLUs “People Power’s” Action Groups.
His kickoff touted that the ACLU was QUOTE “Building a grassroots army to show up in the streets.” UNQUOTE.
You don’t build barracks without bucks.
For according to the ACLU itself, George Soros’s boots are all over the garrison with, at least, “$50 million awarded” to the ACLU over the past four years through his “Open Society Foundations.”
Sounds like a highjack.

I’ve always enjoyed your Articles/Videos; however, when I moved from Laurel, MD to Columbia, MD, I wound up without Internet access for about two weeks. It was just today that my Internet access was restored.
Your Video’s right on target regarding Giorgy Schwartz aka George Soros. He’s hijacked the ACLU and made it his pawn, just as he’s the pawn of the Rothschilds, who are running the entire show.
There are two nations’ leaders who want him prosecuted/punished for his multitude of felonies committed in these two nations, Viktor Orban of Hungary and Vladimir Putin of Russia.
Soros’ US citizenship must be revoked for the lies he wrote when applying for this privilege, then deported to Hungary to face charges there and serve prison time, then extradited to Russia to be prosecuted and given a life sentence in Siberia. On top of that, all of his assets in the US must be seized by the USG and returned to the Treasury.

I was dumbstruck for a few minutes listening to Michael Meyers describe how the radical regressive “Lunatic Left” mob has ruined the ACLU with it’s astroturfing People Power, Inc “Resistance Movement” and blasting the organization he used to work for.
Meyers made quite the convincing case showing how the ACLU became a tool for those on the left to push their political agenda essentially abandoning their decades old mandate of adhering to legal advocacy for civil liberty taking on some very unpopular causes.
It’s getting grim when the leftists can’t stand the Democrat Party or liberal advocacy organizations anymore because it’s become too left of far-left.
Back in July, one man started the #WalkAway Facebook movement from the Democrat Party and its the growing tyranny over minorities and mob rule abuses of constitutional liberties and rights which went viral right away.
Some ex-Democrats have re-registered as independents, and many have registered as Republicans at a pace which only picked up after the regressive Democrat Guillotine Squad and their #MeToo womanoid/feminist mobs failed in their efforts to decapitate Justice Kavanaugh.
I listened to you on the radio last night with Rense, and you’d mentioned Kanye West.
I hadn’t watched his meeting with Trump, but wow, has CNN come out with some of the worst racist remarks directed at Kanye – on the order of Don Lemon virtually calling him an uppity Negro who escaped from the Democrat plantation to give quite the “Minstrel Show” inside the White House.
So, I listened to West today, and it was very clear that he wasn’t “mentally ill” as Jimmy Kimmel snarked, but was simply saying through his own idiom that essentially the Democrat Party hasn’t, and isn’t doing a thing for the Black community but hold them back, and how the Democrats need Blacks to hang on to their political power.

“Kanye West said some genuinely interesting things,” Carlson said. “He’ll probably destroy his career for saying them.”
Carlson said that West’s style may have covered up some of the points he was making but that people should definitely listen to what he said.
He explained how West posited that it is expected for African-Americans to be Democrats, and that the welfare state has a lot to do with leftist politics in that regard.
Carlson said that was true, adding that the Democratic Party “systematically destroyed the American family, especially in [urban] neighborhoods” — and that Democrats at times see fathers as “an impediment” to the state forcing their will on family units.

“[West] is precisely crazy enough to think for himself,” Carlson said, adding that the rap artist offers “real insights into the way the world actually is. … That makes him dangerous to a system based on piety and lying.”
Carlson said the media response proved that the left believes “Kanye must be crushed.”
He said that Democrats need nearly the entirety of the African-American vote to win presidential elections, so when West espouses support for Trump and his policies, they view it negatively.
“They’re terrified you will listen to what Kanye West is saying.”

A new leaked memo obtained by The Free Beacon documents how George Soros funded groups plotted with Google, Facebook, Twitter and other social media platforms to eliminate conservative “right wing propaganda.”
The recent wave of censorship of conservative voices on the internet by tech giants Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Apple mirrors a plan concocted by a coalition of George Soros-funded, progressive groups to take back power in Washington from President Trump’s administration.
A confidential, 49-page memo for defeating Trump by working with the major social-media platforms to eliminate “right wing propaganda and fake news” was presented in January 2017 by Media Matters founder David Brock at a retreat in Florida with about 100 donors, the Washington Free Beacon reported at the time.

The Gateway Pundit reported that in January 2017 after Hillary Clinton was shellacked in the November 2016 election top Democrat operatives at Media Matters, Share Blue, American Bridge, and CREW came together and released their two-year plan to take back power in Washington DC.
The document obtained by The Free Beacon states that Media Matters and other Soros funded groups have “access to raw data from Facebook, Twitter, and other social media sites” so they can “systemically monitor and analyze this unfiltered data.”
According to the document, the radical left groups have been working with Facebook and Twitter to eliminate conservative content.
The Free Beacon obtained a copy of the memo, “Democracy Matters: Strategic Plan for Action,” by attending a January 2017 retreat in Florida sponsored by Media Matters founder David Brock and 100 donors.

WND reports that the memo spells out a four-year agenda that deployed Media Matters along with American Bridge, Shareblue and Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) to attack Trump and Republicans.
The strategies are impeachment, expanding Media Matters’ mission to combat “government misinformation,” ensuring Democratic control of the Senate in the 2018 midterm elections, filing lawsuits against the Trump administration, monetizing political advocacy, using a “digital attacker” to delegitimize Trump’s presidency and damage Republicans, and partnering with Facebook to combat “fake news.”

The document claims Media Matters and far-left groups have “access to raw data from Facebook, Twitter, and other social media sites” so they can “systemically monitor and analyze this unfiltered data.”
“The earlier we can identify a fake news story, the more effectively we can quash it,” the memo states. “With this new technology at our fingertips, researchers monitoring news in real time will be able to identify the origins of a lie with mathematical precision, creating an early warning system for fake news and disinformation.”
Media Matters met with Facebook, which boasts some 2 billion members worldwide, to discuss how to crack down on fake news, according to the memo.
The social media giant was provided with “a detailed map of the constellation of right-wing Facebook pages that had been the biggest purveyors of fake news.”
Brock’s memo also says Media Matters gave Google “the information necessary to identify 40 of the worst fake new sites” so they could be banned from Google’s advertising network.
The Gateway Pundit pointed out that in 2016, Google carried out that plan on the Gateway Pundit blog and other conservative sites, including Breitbart, the Drudge Report, Infowars, Zero Hedge and Conservative Treehouse.
Facebook, meanwhile has changed its newsfeed algorithm, ostensibly to combat “fake news,” causing a precipitous decline in traffic for many conservative sites.
President Donald Trump himself was affected, with his engagement on Facebook dropping by 45 percent.
A study in June by Gateway Pundit found Facebook had eliminated 93 percent of the traffic of top conservative news outlets.
Western Journal, in its own study, found that while left-wing publishers saw a roughly 2 percent increase in web traffic from Facebook following the algorithm changes, conservative sites saw a loss of traffic averaging around 14 percent.
‘Totalitarian impulse’ of the left
President Trump’s 2020 campaign manager charged last week the giants of Silicon Valley are stifling free speech, particularly conservative speech, manifesting the “inherent totalitarian impulse” of the left.
On Friday, Facebook appeared to be “shadow banning” the non-profit education site PragerU, founded by talk-host Dennis Prager, causing a drop in engagement of 99.9999 percent while removing two videos regarded as “hate speech.”
After Facebook rejected a highly inspirational ad for a Republican congressional candidate that included images depicting her parents’ persecution under the Khmer Rouge communist regime in Cambodia, Twitter followed up with its own ban.
WND reported earlier this month Facebook banned a pro-life video ad by a judicial candidate, giving the same explanation.
On Aug. 6, WND reported, Facebook, YouTube and Apple banned commentator Alex Jones and his Infowars website within hours of each other.
Last month, WND reported moderate Muslims and counter-terrorist activists were increasingly being restricted by Silicon Valley, while terrorist content remains on social-media platforms, according to researchers.
Trump campaign chief Parscale said last week the banning of Jones “will inevitably lead to the silencing of those with far less controversial opinions.”
“What we are seeing in Big Tech is the inherent totalitarian impulse of the Left come into full focus,” Parscale said.

Another employee, Julia Ferraioli, a senior developer advocate at Google, quote tweeted a statement from Mitch McConnell. McConnell said, “These things always blow over,” and Ferraioli added, “We will prove you wrong.”
She later tweeted that she planned to protest his nomination at the Capitol but couldn’t after getting sick.
A Google spokesperson told The Daily Caller, “What employees say in their personal capacity has no bearing on the way we build or operate our products.”
This is another example of Google employees expressing their political leaning.

Washington Times: George Soros funds Ferguson protests, hopes to spur civil action
Liberal billionaire gave at least $33 million in one year to groups that emboldened activists

There’s a solitary man at the financial center of the Ferguson protest movement. No, it’s not victim Michael Brown or Officer Darren Wilson. It’s not even the Rev. Al Sharpton, despite his ubiquitous campaign on TV and the streets.
Rather, it’s liberal billionaire George Soros, who has built a business empire that dominates across the ocean in Europe while forging a political machine powered by nonprofit foundations that impacts American politics and policy, not unlike what he did with MoveOn.org.
Mr. Soros spurred the Ferguson protest movement through years of funding and mobilizing groups across the U.S., according to interviews with key players and financial records reviewed by The Washington Times.
In all, Mr. Soros gave at least $33 million in one year to support already-established groups that emboldened the grass-roots, on-the-ground activists in Ferguson, according to the most recent tax filings of his nonprofit Open Society Foundations. The financial tether from Mr. Soros to the activist groups gave rise to a combustible protest movement that transformed a one-day criminal event in Missouri into a 24-hour-a-day national cause celebre.
“Our DNA includes a belief that having people participate in government is indispensable to living in a more just, inclusive, democratic society,” said Kenneth Zimmerman, director of Mr. Soros‘ Open Society Foundations’ U.S. programs, in an interview with The Washington Times. “Helping groups combine policy, research [and] data collection with community organizing feels very much the way our society becomes more accountable.”
No strings attached
Mr. Zimmerman said OSF has been giving to these types of groups since its inception in the early ‘90s, and that, although groups involved in the protests have been recipients of Mr. Soros‘ grants, they were in no way directed to protest at the behest of Open Society.
“The incidents, whether in Staten Island, Cleveland or Ferguson, were spontaneous protests — we don’t have the ability to control or dictate what others say or choose to say,” Mr. Zimmerman said. “But these circumstances focused people’s attention — and it became increasingly evident to the social justice groups involved that what a particular incident like Ferguson represents is a lack of accountability and a lack of democratic participation.”
Soros-sponsored organizations helped mobilize protests in Ferguson, building grass-roots coalitions on the ground backed by a nationwide online and social media campaign.
Other Soros-funded groups made it their job to remotely monitor and exploit anything related to the incident that they could portray as a conservative misstep, and to develop academic research and editorials to disseminate to the news media to keep the story alive.
The plethora of organizations involved not only shared Mr. Soros‘ funding, but they also fed off each other, using content and buzzwords developed by one organization on another’s website, referencing each other’s news columns and by creating a social media echo chamber of Facebook “likes” and Twitter hashtags that dominated the mainstream media and personal online newsfeeds.
Buses of activists from the Samuel Dewitt Proctor Conference in Chicago; from the Drug Policy Alliance, Make the Road New York and Equal Justice USA from New York; from Sojourners, the Advancement Project and Center for Community Change in Washington; and networks from the Gamaliel Foundation — all funded in part by Mr. Soros — descended on Ferguson starting in August and later organized protests and gatherings in the city until late last month.
Broaden issue focus
All were aimed at keeping the media’s attention on the city and to widen the scope of the incident to focus on interrelated causes — not just the overpolicing and racial discrimination narratives that were highlighted by the news media in August.
“I went to Ferguson in a quest to be in solidarity and stand with the young organizers and affirm their leadership,” said Kassandra Frederique, policy manager at the Drug Policy Alliance, which was founded by Mr. Soros, and which receives $4 million annually from his foundation. She traveled to Ferguson in October.
“We recognized this movement is similar to the work we’re doing at DPA,” said Ms. Frederique. “The war on drugs has always been to operationalize, institutionalize and criminalize people of color. Protecting personal sovereignty is a cornerstone of the work we do and what this movement is all about.”
Ms. Frederique works with Opal Tometi, co-creator of #BlackLivesMatter — a hashtag that was developed after the killing of Trayvon Martin in Florida — and helped promote it on DPA’s news feeds. Ms. Tometi runs the Black Alliance for Just Immigration, a group to which Mr. Soros gave $100,000 in 2011, according to the most recent of his foundation’s tax filings.
“I think #BlackLivesMatter’s success is because of organizing. This was created after Trayvon Martin, and there has been sustained organizing and conversations about police violence since then,” said Ms. Frederique. “Its explosion into the mainstream recently is because it connects all the dots at a time when everyone was lost for words. ‘Black Lives Matter’ is liberating, unapologetic and leaves no room for confusion.”
#BlackLivesMatter
With the backing of national civil rights organizations and Mr. Soros‘ funding, “Black Lives Matter” grew from a hashtag into a social media phenomenon, including a #BlackLivesMatter bus tour and march in September.
“More than 500 of us have traveled from Boston, Chicago, Columbus, Detroit, Houston, Los Angeles, Nashville, Portland, Tucson, Washington, D.C., Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and other cities to support the people of Ferguson and help turn a local moment into a national movement,” wrote Akiba Solomon, a journalist at Colorlines, describing the event.
Colorlines is an online news site that focuses on race issues and is published by Race Forward, a group that received $200,000 from Mr. Soros’s foundation in 2011. Colorlines has published tirelessly on the activities in Ferguson and heavily promoted the #BlackLivesMatter hashtag and activities.
At the end of the #BlackLivesMatter march, organizers met with civil rights groups like the Organization for Black Struggle and Missourians Organizing for Reform and Empowerment to strategize their operations moving forward, Ms. Solomon wrote. OBS and MORE are also funded by Mr. Soros.
Mr. Soros gave $5.4 million to Ferguson and Staten Island grass-roots efforts last year to help “further police reform, accountability and public transparency,” the Open Society Foundations said in a blog post in December. About half of those funds were earmarked to Ferguson, with the money primarily going to OBS and MORE, the foundation said.
OBS and MORE, along with the Dream Defenders, established the “Hands Up Coalition” — another so-called “grass-roots” organization in Missouri, whose name was based on now-known-to-be-false claims that Brown had his hands up before being shot.
The Defenders were built to rally support and awareness for the Trayvon Martin case and were funded by the Tides Foundation, another recipient of Soros cash. Hands Up Coalition has made it its mission to recruit and organize youth nationwide to start local events in their communities — trying to take Ferguson nationwide.
Years and weekends of ‘resistance’
Hands Up Coalition has dubbed 2015 as “The Year of Resistance,” and its outreach program strongly resembles how President Obama’s political action committee — Organizing for Action — rallies youth for its causes, complete with a similarly designed Web page and call to action.
Mr. Soros, who made his fortune betting against the British pound during the currency crisis in the early ‘90s, is a well-known supporter of progressive-liberal causes and is a political donor to Mr. Obama’s campaigns. He committed $1 million to Mr. Obama’s super PAC in 2012.
Mr. Soros‘ two largest foundations manage almost $3 billion in assets per year, according to their most recent respective tax returns. The Foundation to Promote Open Society managed $2.2 billion in assets in 2011, and his Open Society Institute managed $685.9 million in 2012.
In comparison, David and Charles Koch, the billionaire brothers whom liberals often call a threat to democracy — and worse — for their conservative influence, had $308 million tied up in their foundation and institute in 2011.
One of the organizations that Mr. Soros funds, and which fueled the demonstrations in Ferguson, is the Gamaliel Foundation, a network of grass-roots, interreligious and interracial organizations. Mr. Obama started his career as a community organizer at a Gamaliel affiliate in Chicago.
The Rev. Traci Blackmon of Christ the King United Church of Christ in Florissant, Missouri, which is part of the Gamaliel network, said in one of the group’s webinars that clergy involved with Gamaliel must be “protectors of the narrative” of what happened in Ferguson.
The Gamaliel affiliate in St. Louis — Metropolitan Congregations United — organized the “Weekend of Resistance” in October, in which clergy members from around the nation were called to come to Ferguson to protest.
Clergy involvement
Representatives of Sojourners, a national evangelical Christian organization committed “to faith in action for social justice,” attended the weekend. The group received $150,000 from Mr. Soros in 2011.
Clergy representatives from the Samuel Dewitt Proctor Conference, where the Rev. Jeremiah Wright serves as a trustee, also showed up. Mr. Wright was Mr. Obama’s pastor in Chicago before some of his racially charged sermons, including the phrase “God damn America,” forced Mr. Obama to distance himself. SDPC received $250,000 from Mr. Soros in 2011.
During Gamaliel’s weekend protest event, Sunday was deemed “Hands Up Sabbath,” where clergy were asked to speak out about racial issues, using packets and talking points prepared for them by another religion-based community organizing group, PICO.PICO is also supported by the Open Society Foundations, according to its website.
The weekend concluded Monday, when clergy members were asked to lead in acts of civil disobedience, prompting many of them to go to jail in the hopes of gaining media attention. It worked, as imagery of clergy members down on their hands and knees in front of police dominated the mainstream news cycle that day — two months after Brown’s shooting.
“After the initial shooting, we were all hit in the face with how blatant racism really is,” said the Rev. Susan Sneed, a Gamaliel organizer who helped stage the October weekend event. “We began quickly hearing from our other affiliates offering support.”
At the end of August, Gamaliel had a large organizational meeting to discuss its Ferguson strategy, Ms. Sneed said. It had its affiliates in New York and California handling the St. Louis Twitter feed and Facebook page, helped in correcting any inaccurate stories in the press and promoted their events, she said.
“When we started marching down the street, saying, ‘hands up, don’t shoot,’ those images reached all over the world,” said Ms. Sneed, referring to the moment she realized Ferguson was going to become a movement. “The Twitter images, Facebook posts of burning buildings — it’s everywhere, and the imagery is powerful. And the youth — the youth is so engaged. They’ve found a voice in Ferguson.”
National activists descend
Larry Fellows III, 29, a Missouri native, did find his voice in the chaos of Ferguson with the help of outside assistance backed by Mr. Soros. Mr. Fellows is co-founder of the Millennial Activists United, a key source of video and stories developed in Ferguson by youth activists used to inspire other groups nationally.
Mr. Fellows explained how he started his organization in an interview with the American Civil Liberties Union (another Soros-backed entity that sent national representatives to Missouri) in November. “Initially, it would just be that we would show up for protests, and the next day we’d clean up the streets. A lot of the same people were out at the protests and going out to lunch and talking about what was happening.
“That became a cycle until a lot of us figured out we needed to have a strategy,” Mr. Fellows explained to the ACLU, which posted the interview in its blog. “Then a lot of organizers from across the country started to come in to help us do the planning and do the strategizing. That helped us start doing it on our own and planning out actions and what our narratives were going to be,” he said.
MAU has listed on its website that it has partnered with Gamaliel network churches.
They’ve also received training on civil disobedience from the Advancement Project — which was given a $500,000 grant from Mr. Soros in 2013 “to build a fair and just, multi-racial democracy in America through litigation, community organizing support, public policy reform, and strategic communications,” according to the Foundation’s website.
The Advancement Project, based in Washington, also arranged the meeting between community organizers in Ferguson and Mr. Obama last month to brief him on the situation in Ferguson and to set up a task force that examines trust between police and minority communities.
In addition, the Advancement Project has also dedicated some of its staff to lead organizations in Ferguson, like the Don’t Shoot Coalition, another grass-roots group that preaches the same message, links to the same Facebook posts and “likes” the same articles as DPA, ACLU, Hands Up Coalition, OBS, MORE and others.

“When they go low, I say hit back harder,” Stormy Daniels’s attorney Avenatti said this summer, according to The NYT. Avenatti challenged Donald Trump Jr. to a three-round mixed martial arts fight for charity Tuesday morning.

The news story also highlighted former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s Tuesday remarks about the uselessness of “civility,” which were in direct contrast with a September op-ed by Republican Louisiana Rep. Steve Scalise that called for a “higher level of civility.”
“You cannot be civil with a political party that wants to destroy what you stand for,” Clinton said Tuesday. “If we are fortunate enough to win back the House and/or the Senate, that’s when civility can start again. But until then, the only thing that the Republicans seem to recognize and respect is strength.”
The NYT also lauded Clinton for her “toughness that could match any man’s” and her “2016 turn as a stateswoman and grandmother.”

A Republican strategist was condemned on “CNN Tonight with Don Lemon” on Friday for bringing up Congressman Steve Scalise’s shooting during a panel conversation about the recent protests that have been characterized as mobs by the right.
The panel consisted of Republican strategist Alice Stewart, Democratic strategist Hilary Rosen and WaPo columnist Max Boot.

Despite the more limited release, Gosnell outperformed A Simple Favor, The Nun, and the blockbuster film Crazy Rich Asians. Every other movie except for one that appeared higher in the weekend top 10 list was shown to Americans in thousands of theaters.
It was also the only movie to gain in audience on Sunday, with over $1.23 million in ticket sales though the weekend. Every other movie saw a Sunday dropoff.
Had Gosnell opened in 2,800 theaters like other movies in the top 10 list it would have finished in 7th place for the weekend — making it more popular per theater than The House With a Clock in Its Walls and Bad Times at the El Royale.
But those who are watching the movie are giving in tremendously high ratings. It has a 67% rating at Rotten Tomatoes and 99% of those viewing it said they liked it. Here are some of the reviews:

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — Cherokee Nation Secretary of State Chuck Hoskin Jr. issued the following statement Monday in response to Senator Elizabeth Warren’s DNA test claiming Native Heritage:
“A DNA test is useless to determine tribal citizenship. Current DNA tests do not even distinguish whether a person’s ancestors were indigenous to North or South America,” Cherokee Nation Secretary of State Chuck Hoskin Jr. said.
“Sovereign tribal nations set their own legal requirements for citizenship, and while DNA tests can be used to determine lineage, such as paternity to an individual, it is not evidence for tribal affiliation.
“Using a DNA test to lay claim to any connection to the Cherokee Nation or any tribal nation, even vaguely, is inappropriate and wrong. It makes a mockery out of DNA tests and its legitimate uses while also dishonoring legitimate tribal governments and their citizens, whose ancestors are well documented and whose heritage is proven.
“Senator Warren is undermining tribal interests with her continued claims of tribal heritage.”

If someone had a great, great, great, great, great grandparent who was Jewish would the Jews let them get away with calling themselves “Jewish”? I doubt it.
Well, maybe if there were some shekels in it.
I would sure love for one of those radio requests with an Adam Green on Know More News BUT, that’s assuming he’s legit of which only an expert can decide.
Keeping that in mind and listening to +BN regarding censorship, he made a fantastic point that made me think.
Does anyone have a take on why an Adam Green and, to even more extreme extent, Jake Morphonios channels not get whacked??
Green is more strictly Jews, Jake is more rounded with everything. (PS if the Saudi thing confuses you, I’d suggest his Podcast ).
Jakes Twitter baffles me why it’s still up if I go by the what i heard with +BN and Rense. Jake really hits the Israel-Palestine clash head on.
All I can say is I only go there because I can’t turn my face on that as a human, though I am a bit of a person that gets queezie when my finger bleeds.

Virtually no one remembers who the Boston Martyrs of Quaker tradition are, persecuted and executed by Puritans on the Common in the 1600s, but by gosh, by golly, we can’t ever be allowed to forget even the holy toenail clipping of a Jew lost in a war which occurred on an entirely different continent.
I demand equal time, money and artistic effort for the Palestinians, the Iraqis, the Yemenis, and the Syrians martyred for the project of Making Israel Greater Again.

At historic Boston Common, passersby come face-to-face with the Holocaust
Through November 10, large portraits of aging survivors appear in Boston installation of photographer Luigi Toscano’s ‘Lest We Forget,’ a remembrance project he started in 2015
BOSTON — In the heart of the United States’ oldest public park, large close-ups of 70 Holocaust survivors were erected this week by photographer Luigi Toscano as part of his “Lest We Forget” series.
Since launching the remembrance project in 2015, the German-Italian Toscano has photographed more than 200 survivors in seven countries. High-profile installations of the portraits have been staged in Germany, Ukraine, and — most recently — surrounding the Lincoln Memorial’s Reflecting Pool in Washington, DC.
As the first public park in the nation, Boston Common played a role in events ranging from the America Revolution to more recent protests. The sloping grounds are within sight of the gold-domed Massachusetts State House, as well as Boston landmarks including the original “Cheers” bar and Old South Meeting House, where the Boston Tea Party was organized in 1773.
Along with close-ups of 60 survivors from countries other than the US, Toscano included portraits of nine Boston-area survivors he sat with in recent months.
The 46-year-old photographer initiated “Lest We Forget” in 2015, and has since received funding from Germany’s government, public grants, and private donors.
On Boston Common, each of the portraits includes a small panel with the subject’s name and biographical details. When The Times of Israel visited the installation on Tuesday afternoon, several portraits had yet to be put up along the path. Among them was that of survivor Halina Yasharoff Peabody, whose canvass was temporarily propped up next to bleachers.
According to the information panel on Peabody’s portrait,”[a] a bomb fell on the house and permanently injured Halina’s hand” while she was in hiding from the Nazis in Krakow, Poland.
Some information panels shed light on the survivors’ post-war efforts to educate the world about the genocide. For example, two leaders of Boston’s survivor community are among Toscano’s newest images: Israel “Izzy” Arbeiter, former president of the New England survivors’ association, and Stephan “Steve” Ross, founder of the New England Holocaust Memorial along Boston’s Freedom Trail.
Enlarged to a height taller than most people, each portrait conveys intimate details of the survivor’s age-worn face. A subtle ring of white light appears in some sets of eyes, a reflection of the round lighting apparatus into which Toscano directs the survivors to gaze during their sessions.
At a reception held at the Massachusetts State House on Tuesday, Holocaust survivors were joined by legislators and diplomats for the installation’s symbolic opening. The gathering was hosted by State Senator Cynthia Stone Creem, whose district includes hundreds of survivors living in Brookline, Newton, and other Boston suburbs.
“It made me frightened,” said Creem of recent studies demonstrating that millions of Americans have never heard of the Holocaust.
In addition to Creem, the gathering was addressed by Germany’s top diplomat in New England, Nicole Menzenbach, whose office helped organize “Lest We Forget” in Boston.
“These photographs stand for those who lost their lives and suffered at the hands of the Nazi regime,” said Menzenbach, who began her posting two months ago.
“Anti-Semitism is real and a current threat. It can be observed on both sides of the Atlantic,” said Menzenbach, who recently completed a fellowship at Harvard University.
As for photographer and filmmaker Toscano, the artist’s parents moved to Germany from Italy as guest-workers. As a 19 year old, Toscano visited the former Nazi death camp Auschwitz-Birkenau in Poland. In the years that followed, he held stints as a roofer, a bouncer, and a window-washer before making it as a full-time auteur.
When asked by The Times of Israel where he would like to organize a future installation, Toscano mentioned Poland. A challenge to operating in that country, he said, is that few Holocaust survivors live there as compared to — for example — Israel and the US, where Toscano recently met with and photographed 21 survivors in Chicago.
“Lest We Forget’s” North American premiere was at the United Nations’ headquarters in January. Outside the iconic New York City building, survivor portraits were displayed adjacent to the long row of international flags. As with the Washington, DC, installation, the images were seen by thousands of people every day.
Boston’s “Lest We Forget” installation is set to run until November 10. The portraits will serve as a focal point next month during commemorations of the 1938 Kristallnacht pogrom, Nazi Germany’s prelude to the Holocaust.
