Rejected: Academy Awards Won’t Give Ukraine’s Zelensky Air Time

The Academy Awards has reportedly rejected Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelensky’s request to appear on Sunday’s broadcast, signaling a cooling off of the love affair between Hollywood and Zelensky.
WME agent Mike Simpson made a plea to the Academy to include Zelensky but was rejected, according to a Variety report. Simpson reportedly represents documentarian Aaron Kaufman, who co-directed the pro-Zelensky documentary Superpower with Sean Penn.
The decision comes as public support for sending arms to Ukraine is softening, with a recent poll showing 48 percent of U.S. adults in favor of providing weapons to Ukraine, while 29 percent are opposed and 22 percent saying they’re neither in favor nor opposed.
That’s down from 60 percent of U.S. adults saying they were in favor of sending Ukraine weapons in 2022.
Hollywood has been one of Zelensky’s most reliable cheerleaders, with celebrities including Sean Penn, Ben Stiller, and Jessica Chastain traveling to Ukraine to promote the actor-turned-politician.
In January, NBC’s Golden Globes feted Zelensky with a special segment in which he spoke remotely, promising that his country would be victorious against Russian aggression. Last year, Zelensky delivered a speech at the Grammy Awards in a bizarre video that featured him in a bunker.
While last year’s Oscars didn’t feature Zelensky, the broadcast observed a moment of silence in recognition of Ukraine.

The Purim spiel is very much the original Drag Story Hour, where cross-dressing as Esther, Vashti, Mordecai or Haman is a favorite part of the celebration for adults and children alike. Last week, the great minds of the Tennessee legislature took steps to outlaw this Jewish cultural tradition.
A bill signed into law there makes it illegal to stage “adult cabaret” anywhere a child might encounter it.

Time magazine says 11 more states are poised to follow Tennessee’s lead by the end of the year. They reflect the growing right-wing movement that has staged protests, often violent, outside Drag Queen Story Hour events, fueled in part by conservative pundits including Ben Shapiro.
I shudder to imagine what will happen next Purim in Tennessee or any of these other states when Jewish men dressed as Esther and Vashti read the megillah at a family service. Will their synagogues be raided by police? Will any adult dressed as a character different from their biological sex be arrested? Will all Purim festivities that include children be shut down by the government?
Are we literally inviting a modern-day decree against Jews, the likes of which Haman himself tried (and failed) to do back in Shushan, Persia, in 357 B.C.E.?

The theory about an allegedly pro-Ukrainian special commando that carried out the attack on the gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea by sailing yacht is becoming more and more dubious.
Now it comes out: It was a 15-meter-long boat, the “Andromeda”, from which five men and one woman allegedly carried out the attack on September 26, 2022. Chartered from Mola Yachting in the resort of Breege on the island of Rügen.
The “Andromeda,” equipped with a 75-horsepower engine, is said to have sailed from Rostock via Rügen to Bornholm to place at least 1,500 kilos of explosives on target at the gas pipeline – at a depth of 80 meters.
The charter company remained silent on Friday, throwing BILD reporters out of the office. All that is certain is that the boat was searched by German investigators in January.
Unclear, however: How should a commando consisting of a captain, four diving experts and a female doctor have pulled off such a complicated sabotage coup from aboard such a nutshell?
▶︎ Problem 1: the explosive devices! Three explosions would have required at least 600 to 900 kilograms of special military explosives for use underwater. The “Andromeda” has no crane to safely hoist such quantities into the water.

Yet another choir from the Monastery of Saint Elizabeth in Minsk presents a short video entitled “Во Царствии Твоем” or “In Your Kingdom.”
This chant, in the Valaam style, comes from the Presanctified Liturgy service, which is only offered during Lent. The chant is performed by the Fraternal Choir of the St. Elizabeth Monastery, led by Evgeny Prokofiev.
The drone of the chant as it alternates in two tones creates a quiet and thoughtful mindset, which allows for the contemplation of the lyrics, which are taken from the Beatitudes from the Sermon on the Mount.

The single “Justice for All” debuted March 4 by the J6 Prison Choir, reaching No. 1 on iTunes top songs Saturday, according to Variety.
The track consists of the choir singing “The Star Spangled Banner” behind bars, interspersed with audio of Trump reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. The song concludes with chants of “USA! USA!”
The J6 Prison Choir is composed of prisoners incarcerated for the involvement in the January 6 Capitol riot.

Presently the US markets are described as “in turmoil.” The day is not over so we have no idea as to how deep or hard this market hit is going to be, nor do we know how long it will last. I expect the US markets to show resilience, this time… but the probability exists that there will come more and more “this times” as the West continues to implode.
No one can resist the will of God and expect to succeed. And no leader of any nation can defy God and get away with it. This is an eternal truth, and we are watching this play out yet again.

Church persecution in Kiev, financial crisis in the U.S.
[There is a photo pasted on Varoli’s substack which shows the shiny gold crosses on the domes of the Refectory Church as of Sunday, March 12, the last day that the true Ukrainian Orthodox faithful met at the Kiev Lavra.
Today these dome crosses are miraculously blackened. Having been taken over by the Kiev Regime and the CIA-created ultra-nationalistic “Orthodox” Church of Ukraine, with the premises strict security guarded by Kiev “Orthodox” goons, there is no way any of the hated “Moskals” and “Separs” could get up on the roof to blacken them. -Kj
Within hours of Zelensky’s decision to close and desecrate one of Christianity’s holiest sites, the U.S. faced one of the worst bank collapses in its history, igniting a financial crisis.

As I write these lines, the stocks of nearly every bank in the western world are tanking. Regional banks, such as First Republic, which lost about 60% of its value, have been hit the hardest. Of course, you probably already heard that Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) in California collapsed, as did Signature Bank in New York. Both had to be rescued by the government.
The collapse of SVB came hours after Zelensky’s regime gave the order to evict the monks from the Kiev Pechersk Lavra, one of Orthodox Christianity’s holiest sites.
Ukraine’s Culture Minister disrespectfully referred to the monastery’s sacred relics and Church ritual objects as “exhibition items”.
With the exception of the Soviet period, Orthodox monks have prayed at the Lavra for 1,000 years. Like Russia, nearly 75% of Ukraine is Orthodox Christian.
Indeed, no two other nations on Earth are so closely bound by common linguistic, religious, historical and cultural bonds. These facts are sufficient proof that war between the two Slavic neighbors is an artificial creation of conniving western oligarchs who use Ukraine as a pawn to weaken and even destroy Russia.
Despite the Soviet-style repression, the Kiev monks are determined to remain in the Lavra. Yesterday (Sunday), thousands of devout Ukrainian believers flooded the Lavra to send a sharp signal to Zelensky’s regime. One Church leader, Metropolitan Clement, said Zelensky’s decree “doesn’t mean anything”.
“How can we leave?” added the Metropolitan. “We’re responsible for this heritage that we have guarded for decades. And now we must leave it to its destroyers?”

It’s important to be clear that this is a war against all Christians and not just the Orthodox world. Zelensky’s bizarre claims that Ukrainian Church clergy are “Russian sympathizers” is patently false. The Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) has spoken out against Moscow and supports peace.
The UOC remains in canonical communion with the Moscow Patriarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church because they share a 1,000-year common bond and because Christ calls for all Christians to be a single community, above geopolitics.
In 2022, Zelensky’s regime began to target leading figures in the UOC and sanction them. To weaken the Church, Zelensky’s regime favors the “Orthodox Church of Ukraine” (OCU), which is an illegitimate religious organization established after the violent insurrection in Kiev in early 2014 that was supported by the U.S. and other NATO countries.
The leaders of the Orthodox Church have called on Christians across the globe to condemn Zelensky’s repression. So where is the Pope and the Vatican? Where are all the other Christian leaders in the U.S. and Europe?
As of this moment, I cannot find any information about the Vatican’s position on the situation in Kiev. And there can only be one position. The Pope must vehemently condemn Zelensky’s regime and call upon the Kiev Lavra to be protected from desecration. The Pope’s failure to do so will only strip him of all legitimacy to act as head of the Roman Catholic Church and reveal him to be a fraud.
In the end, Orthodox believers in Ukraine are certain of Christ’s victory over evil, though there will be hardships.
“I’m surprised how people in power boldly claim they’ll decide the fate of the Lavra. After all, no man on earth knows about his personal destiny even what will happen to us tomorrow,” said Metropolitan Clement.
“Many elders foretold about the Lavra that before the end of the world and the Apocalypse, the desecration of its shrines will take place. Faithful people are well aware of these predictions by holy men.”

The NATO-Russia war will only end when one side is destroyed financially and economically. Fighting on the battlefield is important, but the main arena is economic and financial warfare. This decisive battle has been happening in the form of sanctions, counter sanctions and other economic measures that Russia and NATO countries have thrown at each other.
Thanks to Russia, since 1990 most of the NATO countries have enjoyed access to cheap energy. That era is now over. Persistent high energy prices will continue to bring havoc upon NATO economies, and the pain will be felt through at least 2025. Well, that is if the Western economies survive that long, which I think is unlikely.
After Friday’s collapse of Silicon Valley Bank, it’s clear that Moscow is winning the economic and financial war. Runaway inflation is one example of how economic warfare is exacting a heavy toll on the West.
This inflation is due to the energy war with Russia. The Federal Reserve’s interest rate hikes are an effort to bring inflation under control, and this is precisely what has precipitated the current financial crisis.
Sure, the roots of this financial crisis are in the reckless U.S. government anti-Covid spending in 2020. That money settled in banks, which then invested that money in U.S. government bonds with very low yields since interest rates at that time were almost zero.
But the fact remains that the energy war with Russia, and subsequent inflation, is the catalyst for this current crisis. Though the coincidence of the repression against the Kiev Lavra and the start of the financial crisis is a very very interesting phenomenon.
Meanwhile, the Russian economy has stabilized and is poised for growth as Moscow deepens economic ties with China, India, and the rest of the countries of the world that don’t want to follow NATO’s suicidal financial and economic policies that are pushing their own countries to financial and economic ruin, falling fast into the abyss.
